question Install windows on a new PC

I am thinking of getting my pc assembled and installing the windows myself.
Although I have slight knowledge of how to do it, but i want to get a complete step by step knowledge of how to install OS on a totally new CPU(where the various parts are just joined together and handed over), what other softwares are needed(for booting, audio devices and so on). I will be doing it first time but wanna try and do it myself. I should try XP or directly jump to win7?

    Can anyone help?

Hello, It depends on you whether to install the Windows XP or to install the Windows 7. If you are familiar with windows xp then you can install the windows xp on your computer, and if you know how to use Windows 7 then you can make use of windows 7 on your new PC. In both the cases you need to use the Windows bootable cd to install the operating system. So, you can insert the cd/dvd into the drive and then start booting the system. Then you need to partition the hard drive and install the operating system in one of the drive. So, just do that. Meanwhile you can go further by reading the instructions to install. After completion of installation for driver installation you need to use the Motherboard cd and just press autoplay. So, all the drivers which required will be installed. Then as per your requirement install the other software's. And done.

You are having the new assembled desktop and you want to install the the Operating System in this desktop computer system. For this first of all you should have the Bootable disc of the Operating System which want to install. You can install Windows XP, Vista or the Windows 7 operating system. Insert the disc in the DVD rom and boot from the disc. If it is not booting then change it from the boot device prioprity. Check the manual of youur desktop. Most probably you can change it by pressing the F12 key during the start of your computer system. After that you will get the installation window. Follow the instructions and complete the installation process.

That much i understood. i have the win XP bootable CD and BootIt disk partition cd. I will make the partitions and install the windows. Now are all the necessary drivers for sound, graphics(in case i m not using the graphics card and want the RAM to be shared for graphics) etc. are automatically installed or i have to separately install them. It would be a great help if you could just give the name of all the necessary softwares, drivers and where to find them.
