WordPerfect freezes or generates errors while opening

I was working on WordPerfect and suddenly it turned off. From then when I try to open that application it generates some error messages or otherwise it hangs. I am using the Windows XP. I am not able to work on that from then. I am very used to WordPerfect, so I can't think of other substitutes. Does anyone know how to troubleshoot this problem.?

There are many things that can cause WordPerfect to crashwhile opening the application. If you are getting the error messages while opening the application then there could be issue of damaged default template. Delete the default template due to which restoring of any customization of WordPerfect will set it to factory defaults. Before restoring WordPerfect to its Factory default be sure that you are having setup for WordPerfect. Then login as new user profile. So you can open that application without any error.

Many times the problems of WordPerfect are caused due to damaged or the corrupted files, documents and the templates. Due to which it generates an error at the starting of the application. If your version is 7, 8 or 9, you can use PFREG (which is a coral utility) to register and unregister the components of PerfectFit in the Windows registry. This is the most common repairing tool used in the WordPerfect. And if your version is 10 or greater you can use the Microsoft Installer through the Control Panel to repair.

If you are unable to repair then I would like to suggest you to uninstall that application (WordPerfect) completely from the control panel. Because many times repairing doesn't fix the problem. The last option is to uninstall it. And then try to reinstall that program again. This time it might work. But if your default template is corrupted, you will have to manually delete those folders otherwise reinstalling will not work.
