Check System Performance in Windows Vista

    Hi,
Is there a way by which I can test the performance of my system in Windows Vista. I am not talking about the third party application. Like how Task Manager shows the list of running services. Something like that. My system is working too slow. Second thing my browse blocks the desktop and taskbar sometimes in the between. I have also scan for virus and deleted a few. What is a much better way to clear up the system and make is faster. And I also need to know how to reset the index of Windows Vista.

By default, the explorer (process explorer.exe) is related to the functioning of the taskbar, desktop, shortcut Alt + Tab, etc. It is possible to separate these processes, opening the registry (Start> Run> type regedit) expand the tree HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Advanced, change (or create) a DWORD value, name it "SeparateProcess" (without the quotes) and give it to 1. It is also possible to make this change in the display tab of folder options, tick the box to Launch folderof window in another process (Launch folder windows in a separate process).

To learn more about your computer and have a report on performance, conflict of drivers and plenty of other information, simply use the console Reliability and Performance. Click Start > Run and type perfmon / report and let the analysis be done. Windows Vista has as its former parent (eg Windows XP) a defragmentation utility. This can be planned and also by default, it starts once a week (normally Wednesday) but at one o'clock in the morning, which means that the computer must be turned on at that hour. Since this is not necessarily the case, it may be helpful to plan the defragmentation at another time. To do this in the start menu, type defrag Edit Schedule. Then select the desired setting.

Windows Vista has its own indexing engine to find your files faster. Among the hidden options of system, you can customize as you hear the engine indexing. To do this. Open the Start menu and type? Indexing? in the search bar to open the Indexing Options. In the new window, click Advanced and select the tab File types. Then uncheck the files you do not want to be indexed . When the indexing engine also seems more reliable, it is advisable to completely rebuild the index file. To do this, type Indexing in the search bar in start menu to open the Indexing Options. In the window that opens click on the Advance button. Finally, click on the Rebuild button.

You can try using a registry and memory booster program ... sometimes it can make wonders.
