    Security Applications of Windows 7

    Hi,
Upgraded to Windows 7 recently, wondering that are security features in this operating system are fine or should I switch to third party applications. As compare to Windows Vista I think Microsoft has added more in it. Does anyone had explored those service and liked them. Are they enough strong to cope with the latest security threats and allow my system's optimum performance.

While many people spit on Windows Vista, it is not one that is able to deny the fact that Windows Vista is more secure than its predecessors and a real effort has been made in that direction. The great effort of Windows Vista is that Microsoft had decided to apply the rule that "the fault of a computer is found between the chair and the screen, i.e. the user himself, and had therefore integrated functionality while blocking potentially dangerous behavior: UAC (User Account Control). It had also improved the Security Center and integrated tools like Windows Defender to guard against malware. This could be the ultimate solution, but these security measures were ultimately embarrassing for the majority of users who lost pleasure to use their system. Microsoft then had to find a solution to keep high security while not being intrusive in using the system by the user.

UAC is the tool which bothered you again & again by pop-ups of the AUC for any action that seemed normal as access to a management console? Who has not been tried (or did) disable UAC complement its Windows Vista? Well, you should be happy because now, you'll be able to define more precisely the number of alerts that you want the UAC triggers. AppLocker is a control application that lets you control what applications are allowed to be launched and those who do not. This application is reserved for professionals, allows them to using rules that can be specific (for specific positions or particular versions) as global, control posts users in defining which programs can be executed, those that can be installed including scripts. The rules are based on signatures of applications and could be very thin eg allow only certain versions of an application.

BitLocker is an encryption mechanism that already existed in Windows Vista. The idea is to encrypt using a TPM (Trusted Platform Module) on your motherboard, sensitive data on your system, even if the system is not started. This feature allowing to answer the concern of many months since the major organizations that "lose" sensitive data on their customers. With Windows 7, BitLocker has been enhanced to take into account external drives and USB sticks as (Bitlocker To Go). It is especially possible to use different methods of decryption in case of foreclosure data like TPM, TPM + PIN, TPM + Startup Key (on USB), TPM + PIN + USB boot & Key start (for the system without TPM).
