Try to play those videos in VLC media player, VLC media player is a highly portable multimedia player and multimedia framework capable of reading most audio and video formats (MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.264, DivX, MPEG-1, mp3, ogg, aac ) as well as DVDs, Audio CDs VCDs, and various streaming protocols. See the full features list. It can also be used as a media converter or a server to stream in unicast or multicast in IPv4 or IPv6 on networks. Download VLC media player for Mac OS X:

You may get this message when the format is not supported by quicktime player, what you can do is simply rename the file with .mov extension and then try to play that file in quicktime i hope it will work. Other solution is to download th required codec to play mpeg file on quicktime.

Download the latest Quicktime player from apple site . Firstly, the reader is now fully compatible with the H.264 standard, to obtain, at a rate equivalent, a much cleaner image than existing codecs so far. The audio portion is not forgotten since QuickTime can handle flows consist of 24 channels. Compatibility with many formats is always so advanced, it will retain MOV, Apple Pixlet, AVI, MPEG, MPEG-4, DV, Flash, AAC, AIFF, WAV, MP3, M3U, PSD, TIFF, PNG, PDF, etc
