Need Mkv player to play .mkv file

    Hi,

I have downloaded some .mkv files, I need a player which can open, the MKV Matroska or is a multimedia container. It is a box where you can save streams video, audio, subtitles and who will manage the synchronization of these flows for the video and audio are played simultaneously, for example. Please supply me with a decent media player that can play .mkv files without problem.

There is no special player made to play .mkp file.Matroska is an Open Source "video container. A video container is an envelope that can contain multiple audio tracks, video and subtitles, enabling the user to store a complete movie in one file. This ensures that audio and video can be played on most media players.

To play a MKV file, just like to play an AVI file to have the proper codecs to stream encapsulated in the MKV.
Three key software you can read MKV files:
    • VLC media player
    • Mplayer OS X
    • Mplayer in the terminal
    • Quicktime Player

Re: Need Mkv player to play .mkv file

VLC does not read all the MKV. Some MKV with a video track encoded with a proprietary codec (Real Player also known by the abbreviation RV9 or RV10) is unreadable with VLC. You will have to compulsorily use Mplayer. Also, VLC does not track subtitle by default, so check there are not forced subtitles. Mplayer can play all the mkv and especially those with video encoded in Real. QuickTime Player is the official player for Mac. Go to the software part to install the Component Perian which will support MKV files with QT.
