Re: How to remove a keylogger

Keyloggers are a major threat and extremely dangerous to anyone, whether the victim is a PC user, company or government agency. It is a computer program that logs each keystroke a user types on a keyboard and saves this data into a file or transfers it via the Internet to a predetermined remote host. The ease or difficulty of removing a keylogger depends on how the malware was programmed. Most keyloggers, however, are quite simple to remove provided you have the right tools.

You ust get any updated antivirus program and make a full scan of your pc. If the program prompts you to quarantine or delete a file suspected to be a keylogger, then you should look over the file to see if it’s worth deleting or if it can be repaired. Some advanced spyware removers, which are able to scan the system in a similar way antivirus software does and have extensive parasite signature databases can also detect and remove keyloggers and related components.

    Also delete these registry entries
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run\sys32cmd
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\uninstall\active key logger
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\uninstall\active key logger\displayname
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\uninstall\active key logger\uninstallstring

A Keylogger is computer monitoring spy software, running invisibly and silently in the background, recording every key stroke. If you suspect you are infected with a keylogger, avoid to type any personal information. Even if you are in a normal word document type keylogger still keep track of everything you type. It takes screen shots of user activity at predetermined time intervals or when a user types a character or clicks a mouse button. They can be controlled remotely or toggled on and off with special key stroke combination. The only way to remove this from your system is to do scan with a good ani syware program. Many anti-virus and PC security programs include a list of common and known keyloggers in their virus definitions and databases.

Re: How to remove a keylogger

Before you can destroy keylogger and make your data safe, you have to detect it from your system. Discovery of a keylogger is not easy. It can be about 100 places on your computer, usually located in one of the system files. However, there is a much easier way to detect if a keylogger or not running. Keyloggers record every keystroke you make on your PC, possibly with the intent of capturing usernames and passwords, credit card numbers, bank account numbers, etc. Software keyloggers are divided into parasitical and legitimate applications.

Malicious keyloggers are very similar to viruses and trojans. They are used by hackers to violate user privacy. Right click on your menu bar and click Task Manager. Alternatively you can press Ctrl + Alt + Del. You should be looking at all the applications you are running at the moment. Click the tab that says Processes. This gives you information about all the programs, hidden and visible that your computer is currently running.
