Hi,
I want a free DVD player software for my Windows Vista pc. Windows Media Player is not reading the DVD disc. When I open the movies it shows up as windows cannot read the disc. I think this one due to missing codec. I need a download some free DVD player software's. Please post some proper links which does not contain any virus threat.

Download K Lite pack for Windows Vista. The codec pack has all essential codecs for variety of format which includes your traditional DVD also. The codec pack is for vista. After installing this you will not need any third party software for playing DVD use. If still you want to try then use Nero Showtime. It comes in Nero 9 package. You will get a burner plus a player in this edition.

I am using DVDXPlayer tool. It is a multipurpose DVD software. But this tool is not available for free. The below link is download for a trail version. You can try and then later upgrade it. The best feature about this tool is that it is a region free DVD. This tool reads all disc of all regions. It is burner plus a converter. It can give you a multiple output format like mpeg, psp, etc.
