Lenovo ThinkPad Recovery CD for Windows

My friend had purchased Lenovo Thinkpad Laptop some time before. Now due to virus he wants to format the computer and reinstall windows. He does not has the set of CD's which got from IBM. As it is right that IBM provides a recovery console to each of his customers. He is worrying weather if he formats the computer he may loose the warranty plus there would be some incompatibility issue also. I need some information on the recovery cd of Lenovo ThinkPad.

The latest Lenovo laptops are not coming with a recovery cd. The laptops comes with a hidden partition which includes the recovery software inside it. It is possible that your friends laptop too has a hidden partition. If you format it you will loose the recovery utility. The only problem is that it accumulates space around 4 to 5 GB. But is for your safety.Try pressing F11 key and check out wheather the recovery software windows comes up. Choose full system recovery. It will restore your windows completely.

If you had not yet formatted your laptop then please wait. By formatting you can lose your recovery software. Before that I will suggest you to backup your system completely and then run the recovery. If you want you can create a copy of Recovery CD for the further assistant. Insert a blank CD for DVD and do this. Go to All Programs. Click on ThinkVantage. Select Create Rescue and Recovery Media. Now check the box of Create Create a set of Product Recovery Discs now and click OK. You can make a recovery process in USB also. After that run the recovery CD to restore your system.

To a extent of time IBM provides a free recovery CD to its user. But after the limited period you will need to purchase the CD from IBM. Logon on to the IBM website and go to the coloumn of support and download. Choose your laptop model from the list. Click for the type of support you need. The CD charges may vary from $20 to $50. Or the best part contact the service center of IBM.
