    hi,
i have problem with Outlook Express,Outlook Express won't use my old wab file, it keeps creating a new wab file and uses that but i have deleted that new web file. Also when i try to open the new Web Design File it wont open. Does anyone know what causes this issue and how to fix it?Any help will be extremely appreciated.

Keep the filenames the same and just replace one WAB file with the other. Another option is to use FILE >> IMPORT to import your old contacts.

There normally isn't an export to wab option under OE->FILE->EXPORT, it would either be to a .pab file or .csv file. If you wanted a wab file you'd just copy the OE one and move it to where ever, or open the address book and then click FILE->EXPORT.

If you have an older version of Outlook installed on this computer (either 98 or 2000 running in IMO mode) then open the OE address book and click on TOOLS->OPTIONS and see if there is a setting for sharing the Outlook address book, if so choose not to do this.

Otherwize I would recommend exporting your contacts to a .csv, then closing OE and deleting the .wab file, starting OE and importing the .csv file, and see if you can now delete a contact.

If there is no path shown, that means you have set OE to share the Contacts folder in Outlook and so no *.wab file is used). If you open the *.wab's folder in Windows Explorer, you will see not only the <username>.wab file but also an automatic backup copy named <username>.wa~ or <username>wab~. To find all WAB files and backups on your computer, just do a Windows search for *.wa?. To open a backup copy, simply rename the file and change the extension to wab.

And also refer to this thread with same error issue:cannot access wab dll address book , outlook
