    Black screen on Itunes

    Hello,

    I just opened iTunes and it displayed a black screen in place of songs, when I change line,The itunes store works but against my playlists (added recently,..) are empty! When I click F5 to refresh, it displays a window: itunes is not your music player by default. Would you go to control panel default programs to remedy this situation? Yes / No If I click Yes it displays a window with 31 programs, which should I choose? I see that there are 23 of the marked ... If I click no, the window closes and the screen stays black.
    Can you help me please
    thank you

    Re: Black screen on Itunes

    I did not see this problem addressed here but for those of us not rolling back to XP and not running a MAC here's the lowdown on the "i-Tunes opens up entirely black" problem that a lot of Vista users are encountering.

    If you go to C:\Program Files\itunes\ (or where you installed i-tunes)
    and right click on i-tunes.exe and go to the compatibility tab.

    Just choose the Disable Desktop composition, and disable visual themes

    click apply and ok.

    The next time you start up I-tunes you'll get a warning about this version being used with out-dated compatibility (the warning is from i-tunes not Vista). just hit ok and i-tunes will load normally

    Here's the trick

    go back to i tunes.exe and right click and uncheck those two options.

    i tunes will now load without the error and look normal.

    So far - the black has not returned.

    Re: Black screen on Itunes

    If you're using Windows Vista, you might get this black screen of death from your iTunes. If that happens don't do what I did and reinstall and cause yourself grief and whatever you do DO NOT try to sync - it will mess up your iPod! Do this instead.

    * Go to your Program Files/iTunes folder
    * Find the iTunes.exe file (it's probably not called that in Vista. Mine just says "iTunes" and has the iTunes favicon on it.
    * Right click on that and go to Properties
    * Then click on Compatibility
    * Check the box that says Windows XP
    * Also check the boxes that say disable visual themes and disable desktop composition
    * Click Apply and Click OK
    * Re-Launch iTunes
