Office 2003 updating with Office 2007

I am running Office 2003 with XP and an HP 5610 printer. I use stamps.com and never had any problems with it until several months ago. I can't get any envelope to print properly - it consistently cuts off the return address. At first I thought it was the printer but it is only a few years old and everything else works fine. While looking for Office 2003 specific updates I see a list of 2007 patches that have been added to my computer through auto update. Why am I getting Office 2007 updates and could this be causing the conflict with the stamps program?

...but I didn't upgrade it, automatic updates is adding the 2007 upgrades. I still have 2003 installed.

Sorry, I am just confused by this. I'll re-read some of the related links but it seems to me they all apply to situations where someone is trying to upgrade from 2003 to 2007.

Just to clarify, I am taking updates - I began referring to upgrades in the last post, sorry. I have not upgraded 2003 to 2007.

If you have deleted the office 2003 patches and just downloaded 2007 patches then it won't work because they both have a combination of files used for each other. So if 2003 patches get deleted then so does the 2007 patches.

I didn't delete any patches (that I am aware of). I just don't understand why automatic update would take updates to Office 2007 when I am running 2003. ...if any 2003 updates were deleted, wouldn't auto-update just d/l and install them again? ....I did note that prior to taking the 2007 updates I had office 2003 updates that failed. Does that indicate something? Maybe auto update is a bad thing as you don't often see what is going on and when it happens?

I'm glad that I was at least able to answer some of your question. You might be able to do an upgraded install of 2007 and use the 2003 patches to use the applications you want to use. Auto updates are good because if you forget to get updates it will do it for you, but if you don't like it then you can always select the notify me when updates are available but let me choose when to install them.you can go from 2007 to 2003 but not the other way around. So my overall suggestion to you is to just save it as a (plain)text or text delimited that way there are no compatibility issues it should open right up unless you are running Mac OS's.
