How to record audio through computer and not mic

    Hi,

How can i capture the sounds that my computer plays and record them. in XP I there is sound manager with bar of sound tools, in recording panel, by checking the stereo check box we sound recorder to record sounds directly from computer before they transformed into real sound waves. Is there a way to do this in Vista?

    Thanks you

For Windows vista, Microsoft just decided to hide it.

Here is trick for windows Vista:

    1. Select sound from the control panel.
    2. Select the recording tab.
    3. Right click on the background of the tab and choose "show disabled devices."
    4. Right click on Wave Out Mix and click enable.
    5. Now it should work the same way as Wave Out Mix in Windows XP, allowing you to record any sound your computer makes.

I've tried that trick, I have vista home premium. And it does not show the disabled devices. I put the check mark on show disabled and it doesn't show me...NOW WHAT ! ! ! ? ? ? I'm lucky thoe, I have another pc, a desk top with window's xp and I can still record there. But it shure would make my life easier if I could use my new laptop with vista , to record internaly. Without having to reroute with a mixing board, ahggggggg

    Hi,
You will have to use the microphone or line in and direct the sound to record. Vista unlike XP doesn't support internal recording. Thats a flaw...!
Try this : bring a cable with 3.5mm jack on both sides. Plug one side to the green plug of the sound and the otherside to blue plug or red plug. [Blue is for line-in and red is for mic].
    All the best!

    hello. I found the solution.
And yes my laptop does support internal recording. I figured out how to do it. Now I am a happy camper. I can record internaly without the use of a mic. I can record sterio

Here is how I did it. I went to control panel. Clicked on sound, set to classic view. Clicked on recording. Right clicked on show disabled to enable unused .
My view now is shown: Micraphone /line in
    Micraphone Array
    Playback Capture

I clicked on Micrahone array...clicked it to make it my default
then I clicked on Playback Capture made that my default.
But that didn't work, But when I clicked on Micraphone Array and set it to disable.... HUrray....Success.
I am now able to record with my recording software without attaching any lines.

To sum it up..... Make Playback Capture ... default
    Disable Micrahone array

I hope this solves the problem of MANY frustrated new pc's with Vista Users. Good Luck. And keep me informed if this solution has solved your problem
