Move Share on Same Server to new Drive?

    Hi !

I want to move a share tree from 1 drive to another on the same server.

On this topic you talk about Robocopy ... ok for the files .... but how move a share tree with robocopy.

    Thanks!

Two steps are involved, copying/moving the data with robocopy and exporting
and importing the registry keys for the shares.

    Export:

    hklm/system/currentcontrolset/services/lanmanserver/shares

to a file and import it on the new server.

export the regkey, modify it(notepad/wordpad) needed shares with the new
drive letter and import or just share the folders again by hand.

    Best regards

    Hi,

Did you get anywhere with this?

I am trying to do the same thing....

I've found a few find and replace registry tools, but because the lanmanserver share value data contains spaces I think these tools dont work... I then found a vb script that didnt find any data...

There has got to be an easy way of doing this....

One of my colleagues has worked out how to do this if you want to know...

I would be very interested in knowing what you found out because I must do the same thing, move an entire folder with different shares within another folder and keeping the shares.

If you could email this information to me at it would be very appreciated.

I am facing the same problem at the moment, anyone knows a solution?

I used copyright2 recently and it worked well for me. It copied all the files, folders and file shares correctly including permissions. It is not as expensive as securecopy. You can download a trial version from their official website.

I will recommend you to use Rich copy for that. It is a nice tool and best one I recommend. RichCopy is a tool for copying files between multiple devices extremely powerful. You simply need to specify the reference file to be copied and the destination location of files copied or moved. Passing through the network and is very fast, this application will save you valuable time and protect your data in case of incident
