There was not one but two keynotes this morning in San Francisco. And if Apple announces its new iPhone, Intel unveils its strategy for the years to come. A strategy that involves the Internet of Things and thus connected objects. For now, Intel offers a new family of SoC called Quark.

Brian Krzanich, new CEO of Intel, made his first steps on stage and in public for the occasion. A rather convincing Brian is back on the depth strategy, a strategy that is simply to be present on all the market segments. And to do this, Intel has added a new range of SoC to its existing offering, the well-known Atom offers. The new family of Quark therefore aims to integrate the connected objects, those who are, according to Intel, the Internet of Things.

Intel Quark

With minor technical details, Intel merely states that the architecture is open to Quark. So much to know the instructions (is it really the x86?). The main advantage for the foundry is to provide chips whose physical size is very small to precisely fit into Internet objects that can wear the famous wearable devices. Intel say that it will be possible for partners to add Quark IP (Intellectual Property) required to add features.
