Fltmgr.sys blue screen

I am using a self assembled desktop running with Windows XP Home and hardware are Athlon 3800 64x2, Asrock ALiveNF6G-DVI Mobo, Nvidia nf 6100-430 chipset and 1GB RAM. Yesterday I bought a Vista Home Premium disk to install the same on this XP computer.

When I start the installation, setup goes fine until it requires a restart. When it comes back from restart I get a blue screen and it restarts again. This is the process that is going on since yesterday. The bluescreen appears with the error message “stop error 07 and it reverts to fltmgr.sys.”

I’m even not able to enter safe mode. The only thing I am able to do is reinstall Windows XP. I re-installed windows XP, updated my BIOS, updated all system drivers, again tried installing Vista but yet the same error with blue screen.

Do anyone of you have any idea what could be the problem and how can I install Vista ?

According to the error message, first let me tell you that fltmgr.sys refers to “Microsoft File System Manager” so the reason behind this problem would be occurring during writing operations on the HDD. Do you have both S-ATA and P-ATA units on your motherboard? If yes, then simply disconnect the IDE drive and install Vista on S-ATA HDD.

Also before you start the installation just unplug and replug all wires/cables behind your cabinet. Now restart the Vista installation and see if you still get the same problem.
