    Re: Snip Tool is Missing

Hello guys, just a small tip about Snip Tool in Vista. If any of you Vista users noticed that the Snipping tool is missing from your system then, dont panic. The executable is at %SystemRoot%\system32\SnippingTool.exe. So if you use
Run you have to type SnippingTool.exe rather than Snip.

    Hope it helps.

Hey i need a similar help. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium. Somewhere i read about how to run the "Snip" tool. I followed the steps and tried running the the same by typing Snip but nothing comes up. Did a search on my hard driver for Snip...it's missing.

Are you able to access it by following the path manually, i mean by going through step by step from Start Button > All Programs > Accessoires > Snipping Tool. If still it wont work, follow these steps:

    • Click the Start button.
    • Type snip
    • Click Snipping Tool.

    Re: Snip Tool is Missing

Here is the working solution for all those who are facing problem with snip toll in vista. Even i was facing the same problem couple of months ago. After spending few hours on web finally i found the following solution which helped me to fix the problem permanently:
    1. Control panel
    2. Classic view
    3. Program and features
    4. Turn windows features on or off
    5. Select tablet optional features

    Thats it.

    Fixed.

If you have Tablet Features disabled, which many "speed up Vista" guides recommends doing, it removes Snipping Tool. Tablet Features does not have a drop down, so you cannot just take Snipping Tool, which is kind of silly.

I have a similar problem. The snip tool is missing, is not found when searched for, and the "Tablet Optional Features" option on the program and features part is also not there.

    Thanks!

Ok, here is the deal. I lost the snip tool too. Here is how you get it back

    1. control panel
    2. on the left sidecar it has a link: Turn windows features on or off.
    3. click that link and a window pops up with features you can turn off or on.

In that last there is a feature called "tablet PC optional components. check that box and click next. That will put the snip tool back in the accessories catogory in the start menu. Thanks and good luck...

Shoot me an email if this worked for you.
