Re: Laptop no longer connects to printer on home network

If you goto start-network do you see Yellow-pc there and if you click on it
    can you see the printer?

Thanks Patrick. Yes, I can see the printer on the network, attached to
yellow-pc. However, when I try to right-click and add, I get the exact
same error as before. When I try to double-click, I get a similar
error: 0x00000709 - operation could not be completed.

FWIW, I can see the shared drives from the Yellow PC and open
everything on the D drive (with data only), but I am having a similar
issue accessing all of the C drive - Vista will not let me share the
whole C drive on the network, so I have to go into each folder to share
it separately. Very odd. On the D drive, all i had to do was share
"D", and it let me get to every subdirectory. Perhaps this is a clue,
and there is some directory on C that I need to make sure is set to
    share...

How long ago was it that it used to work ok? Do you think you could do a
restore if you have a restore point available before that time? Maybe
something got corrupted. Doing a restore might undo some things you've done
since then if you don't mind having that happen. start-all
    programs-accessories-system tools-system restore...

Oops I see yours and your daughters both don't work any longer and it's
since SP1, doing a restore to before then might get it working but you would
loose the benefits of SP1. If you can go back though and prove it and maybe
get with Kodak support and explain the situation maybe it's something with
    their driver.

P.S. I'm running a HP dv6000 laptop with Vista Home Premium and SP1 sharing
a printer (HP) on a HP Desktop with Vista Home Premium SP1 and sharing a
printer (Brother) on a XP desktop SP3, having no problems. You don't have
a different model printer you can try to eliminate the possibility of the
    driver issue?

Re: Laptop no longer connects to printer on home network

Thanks Patrick. I have one of those "buy a computer, get a printer free
after rebate" little printers stashed in the basement somewhere - I will
dig it out and see if that does the trick. Nice to know your laptop is
    working fine - I have a DV2500, and my daughter has a DV6500, so I am
beginning to think this is something to do with the printer, not
Vista... thought the printer USED to work just fine until sometime
around the SP-1 release. Perhaps it triggered a weird issue in the
Kodak Driver. There is essentially nothing on the Kodak boards, though
they are not the greatest in any case. I'll let you know what I find.
Thanks again for everyone's help, and feel free to chime in if something
rings a bell with you about this... I have almost resigned myself to
plugging in the printer to the laptop every time I have to print until
Windows 7 comes out! ;-) Thanks - Bob

Not sure if you are still having problems. I too was having problems
    connecting to a network printer.

I found and followed the following link and it resolved my issue:

    Good luck.

Re: Laptop no longer connects to printer on home network

I have encountered the same problem. I have a vista laptop connecting to an HP Pavillion with a Kodak Esp and a lexmark x5650. Both printers are connected to the HP. The first night I hooked up the Kodak I was able to print through the network however it was very slow to begin printing. A few days later, I tried again, and suddenly I cannot print to either printer. I never had an issue before when it was just the Lexmark. And as I said the Kodak worked for a night. Nothing is making sense here. If it's a Kodak issue then why do I get the same error trying to connect to the Lexmark? If it's Vista then why did I never have this problem until I got the Kodak? Wow.
