Did you recently bring a brand new Xbox 360? If this problem occurred for the first time then you might not really experience it again. Technical difficulties and the Xbox 360 seem to be synonymous for some gamers. Most recently, gamers who bought 2K Games’ MLB 2K6 for the 360 have been facing lots of issues with freezes. First try to figure out why you are having this problem.

First, consider whether the problem has occurred multiple times. If this is the first instance, the problem might not occur again. This is probably the most obvious tip to check, but when worrying about the fate of your console it can be easy to bypass such things. The first thing to check when your Xbox 360 is freezing up is which game you are playing.

Eject the disc and have a look at the back to see if there are any scratches, markings, dirt, or anything else that might be preventing your console from reading it properly. You also need to check whether that only happens online or also offline because there is a yawning gap between the two cases, if it just occurs online it's to do with your Xbox live connection or connection settings, but if it's offline too we have more than one thing that might be a reason for an issue like this to occur, It might be something related to your gamer profile, saved information on your Xbox 360 hard drive or even a hardware failure with your Xbox 360 console itself.

Switch off your console, remove all the connected accessories and cables that are attached. Reconnect everything and turn it on. Most of the times, it is the Disk which you are using for playing the game. Problems arise while using some specific kind of disk, say movies or games. You can diagnose this by extensively using one kind of disks first and noticing the console´s response.

For more information, you can check out the following link. If you have a HDTV then you need to switch off the console and find the HDTV switch and set it to TV and as soon as you are done with the settings, switch it back to HDTV. Overheating is unfortunately an extremely common problem. If your Xbox 360 is freezing only whilst playing online, then it is most likely down to your Internet connection rather than the console itself. Check that everything is setup correctly and that you are using filters for your broadband connection to prevent it getting affected by the phone line/phone calls. You may also need to check your firewalls and port forwarding settings.
