Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier Preview

While we are still waiting eagerly to see the license land of Jak and Daxter on PS3, it is back on PS2 and PSP in a title which we have been able to play gamescom. Scheduled to leave at the end of the year, The Lost Frontier should not be very different from the previous components but will be an adventure of choice for fans of the genre.

Jak and Daxter is arguably one of the last franchises exclusive to Sony to continue on PS2. This license is in this sense a weight of support even if we only talk about the PSP version in this preview since it is on the console that we could feel briefly . After a few episodes where Jak and Daxter was a separate group, Sony has returned to bases in the series involving the two new companions as two stars of the song would do after trying to kiss a solo career that followed the debut group. And to maximize the synergy created by the pair of shock, the developers of High Impact Games has opted for a sort of fourth dimension duo. In any case, a direct consequence of the first trilogy which has occurred successfully on PS2.

It is almost lying down, very relaxed in any case, the thick, soft carpet of Jak and Daxter stand we therefore tested in this opus, PSP in hand. The proposed level take us into the depths of a volcano that has more or less the victim of Jak. The main objective then was to seek out, or at least, try to progress as a platform to platform despite the lava and above all, despite the apparent complexity in access to some vertices of rock. Profile level immediately Jak helped us learn to know its capabilities, even his powers. It is thus possible, parked in a mark light to activate a magic ability to unlock access. For example, if a jump seems impossible, using the directional cross, you'll allow our hero to leap at a height unlikely to hang the platform in question, leaving a nice yellow streak behind you.

But Jak has more than one trick in his bag. If this capability is unnecessary, then it may choose to switch to its neighbor, always to the cross direction, each direction being associated with a specific power. According to the same mechanism, you can create such rocks over the lava, to invent a way that did not exist. Everything is simple and intuitive configuration of the place you dictating to itself the power to use. And even if you do not guess, simply put you on the famous mark and light a try all your powers, one running every time. But Jak did not need magic to make progress since its agility allows it to hold on to the horizontal pipes and surge pipe hose into stages relatively simplistic. However, the camera it raises some minor issues during the phases of platforms. A concern that the games of its kind to meet virtually all on PSP.
