As the home cinema invades more and more households, the universal remote can replace multiple remotes for the TV, amplifier, TV decoder or the Blu-ray deck. Famous manufacturer of keyboards and mice, Logitech sells a complete line of universal remotes, the Harmony.
In a move that will leave home theater enthusiasts thrilled and everyone else asking what the big deal is, Logitech has confirmed plans to release an adapter that will let the PlayStation 3 play nice with its Harmony line of programmable universal remotes.
Compatible with any Harmony remote, the adapter will enable owners to control movie playback with their remote, as well as power the PlayStation 3 on and off, without the loss of a USB port. The PS3 will act as any other compatible device, meaning that Harmony users will be able to power on their console, television and audio receiver--and even set their television and receiver to the proper inputs--with the press of a single button.
The PlayStation 3, deemed excellent platinum lounge, unfortunately appeal to the wireless technology Bluetooth and not to the infra-red remote. Therefore impossible to do without the remote control of Sony, which presents the advantage of being able to hide the console in a closed cabinet. Logitech nevertheless preparing an adapter used to convert the infra-red Harmony in a Bluetooth signal, allowing a PlayStation 3 to support any remote control of the mark, if not occupy a USB port on the console. All details have not yet been revealed but it is known, however, that the possibility of remote controls the lighting of the console from Sony, as one would do with the remote control official, will be retained.
