How to download GPS data on Samsung WB650 digital camera

Here are the steps to download GPS map data on your Samsung WB650 digital camera.

The map data can be downloaded from the Downloads on the Samsung UK website. You can easily get there by following the guidelines below:

    • Click on Support on the global navigation bar at the top of the page.

    • Select Camera & Camcorder.

    • Choose your product type, subtype and model number, and click Select.

    • Click on the GPS Map view button.

    • An agreement window appears. Once read, check I have read the terms of agreement and click the I Agree button.

    • Fill in the form with your personal information. Type in your digital camera's serial number and click the Check Availability button to see if your digital camera is available or not. Then, click the Submit button.

    • Click on the City Name and Base map and the relevant Country Map .zip files. These will be saved to your computer.

Her are the steps to save the downloaded files:

To use the map data on your camera, follow the steps mentioned below:
    • You will find three .zip files (city, MapView, WEUP1_GB_09Q1) after the completed download. (The last file name depends on the sales region. The WEUP1_GB_09Q1 stands for Great Britain.)

    • Unzip all the three files to get city, MapView, and WEUP1_GB_09Q1 folders.

    • In the city folder, you will find the world.adm file.

    • In the MapView folder, you will find the Map and res folders and the system file.

    • In the WEUP1_GB_09Q1 folder, you will find .bgf files and a .cfg file.

    • Open the 'Country Map' (WEUP1_GB_09Q1) folder and open the MapView folder. Now copy all the files from the 'Country Map' folder to the Map folder that is inside the MapView.

    • The Map folder should have files like in the picture below.

    • Now copy the city folder and the MapView folder to the root of the SD card.

    • Once the process is complete, insert the SD card into the camera. Now follow the instruction in your user manual to use the Mapview on your camera.
