    Updating Firmware of home DVD player

    As writers and readers of your computer, DVD players can play DVDs, Blu-Ray, DivX or multimedia hard drives have a firmware, a software part contains much information about your hardware settings .

    This firmware can be upgraded to support new file formats, new features, increase the compatibility of burned discs, correct a problem ...

    Most manufacturers put on their website the latest firmware upgrade for their hardware. Having correctly identified the one that corresponds to your reader, you simply download and then copy it to your reader.

    If an optical drive, you will burn the firmware on a CD to apply. In the case of a USB hard disk media, you can simply copy them directly onto the firmware.

    A quick turn on your player you will finally have the new firmware and all its improvements and corrections that accompany it.

    In our example, we will update a DVD player DivX HDMI Peekton 6006, but the handling is much the same for all readers.

    Finding the firmware:

    At first, you must find the website of your manufacturer.

    • In the Categories list of equipment, click Players Lounge.

    • Then click on the name of the manufacturer of your drive, Peekton in our example.

    • In the new page, links to the manufacturer's site is provided. Click on the link page for updates as well if available on the home page if any.

    Downloading the correct firmware:

    • Then look on the website of your manufacturer model player.

    • Then click on the link following the serial number of your hardware to download the firmware for your drive on the hard drive of your computer.


    Copy the firmware on the drive:

    If the firmware is downloaded in a ZIP file, you need to decompress.

    • Double click the downloaded file.

    • Click on the link Extract all files.

    • The Compressed Folders Extraction Wizard opens. Double click on the Next button and then click Finish.

    • A window opens on the unzipped files. The firmware is usually in the form of a file in BIN format. Burn it while on a CD with your burning software if you have a normal optical drive.

    • In the case of a hard disk media, for example, connect to your computer and copy over the firmware.

    Applying the new firmware:

    All you then have to install the new firmware in your player.
    • Then start your home DVD player.

    • Insert the disc containing the firmware into the player. This is automatically detected.

    • In the case of a multimedia hard drive, start reading the firmware file.

    • Confirm the implementation of the update by pressing the PLAY button or by following the instructions on the screen.

    • Then let the player load the update and does not particularly turn. After a few minutes, a message tells you that the update is complete!

    • Your player is then restarted and you have the new firmware improvements.
