You want to create schedule for your daily work. Excel helps you to make it easy and simple. Follow these steps to develop good habits:
Repeat merging cells to fill out the rest of your schedule. If you have tasks that are repeated during the week, you can copy and paste the block where you need to.
- At the top, using one or two rows, enter a descriptive title.
- In the first two cells of the next row enter Start Time, and End Time.
- In the next column, enter the first day of the week that you want to use.
- When you hover over the square in the bottom right of the selected cell, the cursor changes into a cross bar, "+". While the cursor looks like a crossbar, left-click and drag across the next few columns.
- There will be a tool tip that will tell you what the contents of the last cell will be. When you've pulled it across enough columns, let go of the mouse button and the days of the week will be filled in.
- In the first two rows under Start enter the time you want to start your day and the next time so that you can see how the time will be incremented.
- This time, you need to select BOTH time cells. With the first cell selected, hover over the cell so that the cursor looks like a large cross.
- Click and drag down to the next cell so that both cells will be highlighted.
- Hover over the bottom right corner of the selection to get the crossbar again and click and drag downward to fill in the times.
- Enter the first two time values for the End Times column and fill in the remaining cells the same way as with the Start Times column.
- Format the Times to Make Them Easier to Read
- Click and drag to select the range of times in both columns.
- Right-click on the selection and choose "Format Cells" from the quick menu.
- From the Format Cells dialog box, select Time from the category on the left. Then choose the specific formatting type on the right and click OK.
- To merge a group of cells, click and drag to select them and click the merge/center button at the top of the Home tab. Once the cells are merged, the grid inside it will disappear and it will behave as one cell.
- Enter Your Schedule Information Into the Merged Cells.
- Type the information that you want in that time range. To enter a new line, hold down the Alt key and press Enter.
