Windows Vista can save the user name and password for servers , web sites you visit, and programs . When you revisit one of those locations, Vista will try to log you on automatically. The following steps will shows you how to manage stored user names and passwords in Windows Vista.

Open the Control Panel Click on the User Accounts and click on the Manage your network passwords.

To manually Add a Store User Name and Password
  • Click on the Add button and type the website or server location in the Log on to box. Type your user name and password for this logon.

  • Set whether this is a website or computer you’re logging into and then click OK.


To remove a Stored User Name and Password
  • In Manage your network passwords click on Remove.

  • Click OK to delete the account.



To Backup the Stored Passwords and User name:


  • In Manage your network passwords click on Backup.

  • Click Browse and browse to the location you want to save the backup file.

  • Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to enter a secure location to recover the User Names and Passwords.

  • Type in a password to password protect the backup file and click Next.



To Restore Stored Passwords from a Backup

  • In Manage your network passwords click on Restore.

  • Click Browse and browse to the location you have save the backup file.

  • Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to enter a secure location to recover the User Names and Passwords.

  • Type in a password to unlock the backup file and click Next.
