How to use and install browser configuration utility?

I have got a gigabyte motherboard and an Intel core 3 duo processor running on it .I have updated my current system from windows XP Sp2 to XP3 (fully updated). Some days back when I booted my pc my Mc affe personnel fire wall popped me a messages saying that BCUservice.exe wanted an access to internet. I wonder for a while and then searched the internet for what the file is for and work does it do. But to my knowledge, I did not find any information for it on the internet. Is it a spy ware or a malware that could affect my pc????? Should I remove it?

To my knowledge, it’s a utility program file from the company named Device VM Inc.Which produces browser utility program. There are five different places where you can see this file namely the running processes. Basically they run in the database and have five different names digitally signed from Device VM Inc. I think it a advanced cache system. I think you should be now concerned with security , as it might be sending details about your browsing hated to it server .

You don t need to worry much about it as long as your work for CIA or KGP. It‘s a utility program that comes pre-installed on your motherboard CD. According to the company ‘s information , it’s a program that help to speed up your browsing speed by keeping a record of your cache and history so that it can you it directly from your previous history .Its definitely not a malware or spyware , it may be a payware. It works with IE 6, 7,8. But not on 9, so if your are having BCU.exe file installed in your Pc it might slow your IE 9 browser /

I had the same problem, I created a new system with gigabyte GA-P55M-UD4 installed all the related driver‘s for it. Through the cd I , got with it , I did a express install after installation I noticed something named Browser configuration utility has also been installed .So I tried searching it on the internet and found out that it was sets the browser default search engine to Google . Some sites also referred it to Google browser Configuration utility program. But you can always try uninstalling it from your drive by clicking through control panel and then add or remove programs.

I found this program in my drive also, I am also using gigabyte product, I found it somewhere in program files/deviceVM/ folder . I read the read me file that is in the same folder that file is. It read that it is an eay-to use , way to install , search –engine It transverse you link to yandex ( if the location or Ip address is Russia ) Baidu is its Chinese and yahoo for rest of the user . AS per the knowledge , I have gained it’s a utility program that seems to redirect auto searches to your browser url to a custom search search engine. So that it could gain referral fee version .

I think gigabyte get’s paid to install it on your system, It’s like a pay ware, where the company that installs it get paid . I don‘t think that it s harmful in any way .As per the Google search result that, I gained that the company named splashtop changed their name from DeviceVM . It seems like the company does some remote desktop stuff which let’s you see you pc on your ipad or iphone . I don not recommend to remove the digitally signed filed from DeviceVM as it could affect your other on going processes.
