Cant access Firefox Profile manager in Linux.

Hello everyone, I am a big fan of Mozilla from the it has been released. I am using Firefox0.8 at my home and I am very comfortable with this version. I am making different new profile in it almost every day. In windows system it is cover on FAQ that when you type “–p” you directly switch to profile manager of Firefox. But since from 2 days I am not able to enter in to the profile manager from Gentoo Linux machine. As I am running KDE 3.1.5, as I am new to Linux. Can anyone help me please? Every solution is highly appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance.

Hello, I have gone through to your problem, after doing some search on Firefox thunderbird from Linux operating system, I came to know that actual command is “Firefox Profile manager” . And other Linux Newbie run across this, that’s the way how to fix it in Gentoo. While using Gentoo Linux you can use command “Firefox –h” this command will show you all the options for starting Firefox from Command line. I think you must try this method; it will help you to fix your problem. All the Best!!!

Hello everyone. Actually I am writing here just because I was facing some problem in it. I have never used Firefox Thunderbird so I don’t have much more knowledge about it. But then too I wanted to do some research on it that’s the reason I have got some error in it. if you are using Firefox 0.8 then to enter into profile manager you just need to type “Firefox –ProfileManager”. But for thunderbird you need to write “Mozilla-Firefox –ProfileManager”. If you will not write like this you will experience bad with Linux operating system. if you have solved your problem then just do reply to this post.

Hello everyone, I also wanted to share some more information on this forum. As I was struggling with one question that why do we require profile in browsers? And I was doing continuous serach then I came to know that it is the most unnecessary thing I have ever come across and it is still present in the various version of Firefox such as new NVU (Mozilla Composer). This is much better because in this I am able to disable the whole thing by modifying the start script and you can modify different profile. This is all what I wanted to share with you all/ thank you,

Hey thanks man. I have done exactly like that which you have mention in earlier posts. And also you were right for the command at the startup such as “Mozilla-Firefox –ProfileManager”. This command has worked for me and ialso I have tried the new version of Firefox. Especially Firefox Thunderbird because the Profile management it this version is very good. Anyway thanks a lot to you all, because without you it was not at all possible for me to come out of this situation. Thanks again.

For install Profile manager in Linux use these steps,
    1) At the top of the Fire-fox window, click on the File menu and select Quit.
    2) In Terminal run: fire-fox -Profile-Manager
    3) To start the Create Profile Wizard, click Create Profile...
    4) To choose its storage location on your system, click Choose Folder....
    5) To create the new profile, click Finish Done.
