Unknown error 18 while downloading applications from the android market

I hope you have got the hint of the problem reading the title. Well whenever I try to download any applications from the android market I get an unknown error 18 and the downloading of the applications gets stopped on its own. So what is the exact problem here can you suggest me some good solutions here then do let me know about it. is it the problem with my phone I have recently got a android a 60 and I am trying to look out for some good applications in that but I am unable to do that. One more thing that I would like to add is that I have not yet got the sd card for the phone, I want to add the applications In the internal memory. So do respond with some good solutions.

I just happened to come across a interesting article In a particular website where the Google developers have said that they have recently detected and deleted a very harmful process from the android market and they are investigating on that issue. So there might be a possibility that your device might have got corrupted and hence it is giving you such error. So just to check the device if it is affected or not with the DownloadManageService then go to the Settings > Applications > Running services and check if the DownloadManageService is present or not in the device. If it is present then there might be a possibility that the service might have got affected.

Why don’t you purchase a new sd card and try to install all the applications in it believe me that it will be a lot of benefit for you. Do not install the applications in the internal memory because the internal memory may be sometimes low and hence it might not accommodate all the applications of bigger size in it. so that’s what I have to say that do get a new sd card and install all the applications in it. so do try that believe me it will work out for you.

Yes he is right sd card is very necessary in any android phone. Even I was facing a very similar type of problem quite some time ago and that too with the sd card. So what I did was connected the phone to the computer via. Usb cable. From there I went to the android_secure' folder and deleted the smdl2tmp1.asec file. After having deleted the file I was able to add all the applications in the phone. so that’s what I have to say here do follow the same instructions and I am sure that you will be able to get the desired results.

See when you are taking an sd card do not forget to unmount the sd card then only you would be able to install the applications. Some of the small applications are not smart enough to see that whether they are already installed in the sd card or not. So unmounting the card does helps. So do try that option and I ma confident that will help you in the process. This is a just small suggestion from my side lets hope that it will help you.
