Getting error 0x80ee001c while making voice call on Windows Live Messenger

I have installed Windows 7 64 bit and Norton 360 2010 on my computer. I am facing really strange problem while I am trying to make voice call with specific contacts using Windows Live Messenger. I am getting 0x80ee001c error message. Previously I had installed MacAfee on my computer so I am scared that the MacAfee is causing the problem. I really don’t know how to begin with the troubleshooting? Can anyone help me out to solve this issue? Your feedback will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your replies.

I am suggesting you to install latest version of Windows Live Messenger on your computer. You have to perform following steps. Click on the Start menu of the Desktop. Now you have to uninstall previous version of the Windows Live Messenger. You have to Click on windows Live. Select Uninstall/Change. You have to uncheck ‘You installed these earlier’ now click to Continue for uninstalling the program. You have to download the latest version of Windows Live Messenger from the official website. Once you have downloaded the software install the software on your computer.

You told me that you had previously installed MacAfee on your computer. Have you tried with McAfee Consumer Products Removal Tool? It is possible that some files of MacAfee are still exists on your computer and it may be producing conflict with windows Live Messenger. Well you had already uninstalled the MacAfee security center. Now download MCPR.exe from the official website and save it on your computer. Now run the MCPR.exe file on your computer. It will remove the MacAfee product from your computer. Make sure that you should restart the PC once the process is completed.
