I want to know which operating system you are using in which you are using safari web browser. Because I think you are using operating system which might not support all the function there in JavaScript. So just see to it that you are using compatible operating system for your browser after which there will be no such issue for JavaScript functions which you are using. Let me know after which i can help you to resolve the problem.

Re: Mailto function problem when subject contains % character in safari

I want to tell you that safari is specially designed for Mac OS, I think because of this it is not able to provide you with all the function from javascript. Other than this HTML is unable to handle special characters in raw form; you need to avoid that in your javascript and they must be "escaped" into their ASCII correspondents. Ampersand, sharpsign and semicolon are some others which you have to avoid using after which you will be able to use mailto function from javascript. I think you are clear about what you have to do now to resolve the issue.

I have solution for your problem which you can have to resolve the problem with mailto function of JavaScript. You can use ampersand sharpsign 37 and semicolon as an alternative of % character which you are currently using. Because 37 is the hexadecimal ASCII code for the % character which you have used in javascript, I think you should replace it after which the problem with mailto function will resolve in safari.
