Suggest Highest transfer rate on Home lan

I have 4 different system at my home and all are desktop. I transfer and share all data well. My family share all kinds of data. Most of them are videos music etc. The problem is that I get 100Mbps data transfer rate using Ethernet. I want to get to know about more higher speed will be available so that I can transfer in a more faster rate. I am planning to upgrade to Gigabit ethernet.

There are certain parameters which needs to be taken into consideration. It is essential that you do look out for the thing as well. For your information a 100mbps lan connection will have a max of 12.5 Meg/sec transfer rate. But depending on your router you may achieve less. A gigabit lan max is 125Meg/sec, but depending on you HD you will get less. Most 7200 rpm drive are around 50-60 meg/sec. If you have 5400rpm drive its around 25-30. So look out for the desired requirements and make the implementation as needed.

There is a way through which you can make a faster rate of the same. Make use of PCI-Express ethernet as it is much faster than that of PCI. It will be better and helpful for you which will essential make the desired implementation or aspect to be processed as needed. It will help you out well for sorting the change that is needed. So do look out well for the thing.

I do receive a good amount of transfer rate while accessing to the same. All you need to do is to get some Raid drives installed well as needed. I will tell you about mine There are three 10krpm raptors that is been present in a raid0, with a configuration of 3gb of ram, and a marvell pcie gigabit network card. Also apart form the same the file server has a 4 disk raid5 on a 64bit 3ware controller 1.7gb of ram, and a 64bit 3com gigabit server nic. The switch that i use is of Netgear GS116 16port gigabit switch. The Jumbo frames are not used. As per the same 3ware 7410 which is only a 33mhz 64bit card. Do make the implementation well I suppose the transfer rate may get a bit faster.

You can make use of 1GbE ethernet that may give you a speed of 128mbps transfer rate. It is very fast as you are using 100mps which may give you the optimum of 45mbps transfer speed. So this will be a better option which is much faster and reliable source that will lead you to great aspects. So check out well for the thing which is essential for you and needed. I hope this will help you out well for the change that is required.

Basically if you need to get the desire information of the thing it is essential that the assigned task of transferring the data is a router's job to handle communication to the internet. So you'd have to use your existing router, connect one of the ports on the switch to the router, and connect the clients to the switch. All the client to client traffic would go just through the switch; all internet traffic would have to go through the router via the switch. So look for the change and make the use of a better and reliable router.
