The LIVE service may be unavailable, or there may be an issue with your home networking equipment

From reading all across I have seen this this is a common problem and the UPnP instructions that I have read are also not so useful or telling us a way on getting to any of the menus. So, whenever I try to sing into the live account that has Opration Anchorage, it gives error message:

The LIVE service may be unavailable, or there may be an issue with your home networking equipment

Any suggestions how to get around to this problem? Thanks

I think there is way around to make it work fine, usually when you log into the actual program from your desktop then it will work fine but you can login ingame which is the trouble around. I have also heard that most issues with GFWL is user related. There is no doubt that this issues are caused by some sort of network interruption. Is there any fix?

Yes this problem is cause by some network interruption, when we usually disconnect from the net or the net going down. This issue could be also related to firewall and router or might even a program interfering with the network connection. The best example is the Norton Internet Security, which is a software that frequently prevents people from connecting to the net. Also, there are some antivirus software that could also cause this issues.

There are many methods to rectify this issue by troubleshooting Windows Live:

    Reset/Repair TCPIP Stack

Two Netsh commands are available that 'may' help. But before you perform the following, you may want to make a back up of your LSP (layered stack protocol) that are installed so that you can reinstall what is removed, like anti-virus and blue tooth devices. This is listed below under More Information
    1. Windows Vista this will reinstall the TCP/IP protocol stack
    2. Click on Start button.
    3. Type Cmd in the Start Search text box.
    4. Press Ctrl-Shift-Enter keyboard shortcut to run Command Prompt as Administrator. Allow elevation request.
    5. Type netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt in the Command Prompt shell, and then press the Enter key.
    6. Restart the computer.

You can try to run winsock xp fix, which is a tool that offers a last resort if your Internet connectivity has been corrupted due to invalid or removed registry entries. It can often cure the problem of lost connections after the removal of Adware components or improper uninstall of firewall applications or other tools that modify the XP network and Winsock settings. If you encounter connection problems after removing network related software, Adware or after registry clean-up; and all other ways fail, then give WinSock XP Fix a try. Download it from here.
