Even when a match is not online, you can leave a message. He'll be delivered the next connection. Double-click the name of your correspondent who is not online and you want to leave a message. Windows Live Messenger notifies you when your sent message will be delayed. Check "Ne show this message again"Then click the button"OK. Normally Enter your message and send it by clicking on the button Send. Finally close the window when you're done. Your contact will receive your message at next login.

You can also insert an emoticon by typing its keyboard shortcut. So, if you repeatedly press both buttons [:] and [)] you'll see on the screen and not these two characters, but a smiling face. To find the shortcuts of your emoticons, click (from the main window of WLM), the menu on Tools then My Emoticons. The list of available emoticons and their associated shortcut is displayed.

The messages you exchange with your callers are not stored. In other words, when you log off, all is lost. It is however possible to keep track of your messages, archive important conversations for example.

In the WLM main window, click on the menu Tools then Options. Open category Messages. In the area "Conversation History"Check"Conserser automatically a history of my conversations". Confirm with"OK".

Windows Live Messenger also allows you to share a conversation with several correspondents. To do this, start a discussion with a correspondent and then click the button Invite someone to join this conversation. Then check the little box in front of the contacts you want to share the conversation and click the button "OK".

The Messenger Live Toolbox has added many customization options to Windows Live Messenger. These all changes could be divided into changes to the interface itself and to the visual display of Windows Live Messenger.
