Before any program of customer relations, brand management must know its prospects. The relationship with potential customers must be considered to maximize the opportunities for conversion. Asking too much information to a prospective example may scare away some potential customers who do not reveal too much about them or have an interest relating to the advertiser.

In contrast to the mass-mailing, intelligent personalization of mailings and newsletters to ensure a company 's acceptance of his campaigns and confidence of its customers. For a commercial site, it is particularly interesting to work on the order history of each subscriber, the baskets he finally abandoned before paying, or simply the product files he had reviewed.

Personalization of emails, however, requires an important data mining work. To avoid having to distinguish each item from a newsletter or a promotional mailing, it is also possible to segment the offerings put forward by families of subscribers. The ideal is to provide for each campaign bricks common to groups of users and others specific to each contact.
