Mozilla firefox does not allow to upload files

I am facing a weird problem with Mozilla firefox which is installed on my laptop. I have a Sony laptop which is installed with Windows Xp operating system. Mozilla firefox is set as the default browser on my computer. The problem is Mozilla firefox does not allow to upload files. When some file is set for uploading, the browser shows that the uploading has started and also prompts that the uploading is complete but the file is not visible. This happens while uploading videos on youtube. Also sometimes the browser shuts itself down while uploading the file. Any suggestions/solutions about the problem are more than welcome. Thanks in advance.

Sometimes the applications/add-ons which are installed on the browser tend to create such problems. Many times the files of the application/add-on are corrupt. If such an application/add-on is installed on the browser then it will corrupt the files of the browser. If such a situation occurs then the browser will not work properly. Start the browser in safe mode and then see if the browser works properly or not. To start the browser in safe mode, type "Firefox.exe/safemode" in the run tab. In safe mode all the application/add-ons are disabled. Therefore if the problem is due to the installed add-ons/application then the browser will work properly in safe mode. If the browser works properly in safe mode then find the application which is creating problem and remove it.

Check the speed of your internet connection before doing any troubleshooting. Generally some of the Internet service providers put a capacity on the upload speed and hence the user is not able to upload files. If the ISP has limited the upload speed then the browser will not be able to communicate with the remote server where the file is to uploaded and hence the file is not visible after upload. Contact the ISP and get confirmation about your upload speed. Also you can find out the upload speed on your own by visiting Websites like Speedtest and Pingtest. These websites provide online tests which can be performed on the link to check the performance of the link. After performing the Test, result is tabulated which shows the performance of the link.

Have you tried using some other browser? There are many browsers which are available online. Google Chrome, Opera, Safari are few of them. All the browsers which are mentioned have more or less same features like Mozilla firefox and hence can be used instead of Firefox. Download one of the mentioned browser and install it on the computer. After installing the new browser, check if you are able to upload the files or not. If the newly installed browsers work properly then uninstall Mozilla and remove all the files which are related to the browser.

I will suggest you to scan the system with some updated antivirus as I suspect that your computer is infected with some kind of virus. Virus's have the tendency to get linked with the files of the applications which are used frequently. If such a situation occurs then the application will not work properly. Hence scan the entire system with an updated antivirus and check for all the infected files. Repair or quarantine the files which are infected. Check if you are able to upload files after repairing the files. If the files of the browser which are infected is more then you will have to reinstall the browser again.

Try downloading the youtube video uploader which is available online. Youtube video uploader is an add-on which can be installed on Mozilla firefox which can be used to upload videos to youtube. Download the application and install it on Mozilla. Before installing the add-on, update the version of Mozilla firefox to the latest version which is available and then install the add-on. Once the add-on is installed you will not face the same problems while uploading videos to youtube.
