Using Skype for internet calling

Hi,
What does skype offers multiple support on the base of voice chatting and calling over the internet. I am looking for a chatting tool to work over my LAN and internet if needed sometimes. Before this I was using Yahoo Messenger but the issue is that the video quality really lacks in it. For this I found some of people using Skype. I need some related information on the same.

Have you tried Skype Credit. It is a good inexpensive way to make calls directly from Skype to any MAC PC at reduced rates to landlines and mobiles. You can buy Skype Credit by clicking on Buy Skype Credit at the top right corner of the homepage of the Skype website. I found this very useful for making calls especially from my iphone.
