I think there is some problem with the installed version of Mozilla on your computer. All the applications have lot of files which are associated to it. If any of the files associated to the application gets corrupt then the application will not work properly. The only solution to solve this problem is to replace all the files which are corrupt. Replacing the corrupted files will help you in solving the problem. Uninstall the currently installed version and remove all the files/keys from the computer. Once all the traces of the application are removed, reinstall it and check if the browser is working fine or not.

Scan the system with an update antivirus as there is high possibility that the system is corrupted by some virus. Virus's get downloaded on the computer while visiting certain websites all while downloading certain data from the Internet. Virus's have the tendency of linking with the files of the applications which are used frequently. If such a situation occurs, then the application whose file is infected will not work properly. Hence scan the system and check for the infected files. Repair or quarantine the files which are infected and then see if the browser is working properly or not.

The application/add-on which is installed on the computer sometimes create problems like the one which you are facing. Many times the files of the application/add-on which is installed on the browser is corrupt. If such corrupt application/add-on is installed on the browser, it will corrupt the files of the browser. If such a situation occurs then the browser will not work at all. Start the browser in safe mode and see if the browser works properly. All the application/add-on which are installed on the browser are disabled in safe mode and hence if the browser works properly in safe mode, find and remove the application/add-on which is creating problem.

Have you tried using some other browsers? There are many browsers which are available online. Google Chrome, Safari, Opera are some of the browsers. All the browsers mentioned have more or less same features like Mozilla firefox therefore they can be used instead of Mozilla firefox without any problems. Download one of the mentioned browser and then install it on the computer. Once installed, check if the newly installed browser is working properly. If the newly installed browser is not working properly then the operating system of the computer is corrupt and needs to be repaired.
