Windows 7 does not allows to Visit some Websites

Hello, I have just installed Windows 7 on my desktop computer. I have an Airtel subscription for the Internet which is connected to the desktop computer. The problem is whenever I try to visit some websites, the Websites do not open. I am using Mozilla Firefox as the Default browser on my system. Is it possible that the Windows7 is not allowing me to visit some websites? If yes then what is the solution. Can there be other reason for this problem? Please help.

There is something known as Security certificates which are checked while visiting the website. If these certificates do not have trusted roots then they are not allowed to be visited and the connection is terminated by the browser. Check the settings of the browser and see if the browser allows the websites which do not have secured certificates to be visited or not. If the feature is disabled then enable the browser to allow the websites to be visited even if it does not have secured certificates.

Try using some other browser to visit the website which are creating problems. I think the browser which you are using is corrupt and is creating problems while visiting some websites. Check the preferences of the browser first and see if all the settings are as per your convenience. If there are any changes then revert them and see if the websites can be visited or not. You can try using other browsers like Google Chrome or Safari and see if the websites which are not allowed to be visited open or not. If other browsers also give the same error then there is something wrong with the Windows installation.

The Mozilla firefox browser comes with the built in diagnosis mode which is known as Safe mode. In safe mode the browser starts with only the basic features which are required to run browser properly. All the add ons and the 3rd party applications are disabled in safe mode. Hence if there is any add on or an application which is creating problem in normal behavior of the browser then safe mode helps in diagnosing it. If the browser works properly in safe mode then find and remove the application or add on which is creating problem. To start the browser in safe mode, Click on Start and select Run. In run type " firefox.exe\safemode".

There is high possibility that the computer is corrupted by some virus which is not allowing you to visit certain sites. Virus's get downloaded on the computer while visiting some website or while viewing emails. The basic tendency of the virus programs are to get linked with the applications which are used frequently. Scan the system with an updated antivirus and check the infected files. Repair or Quarantine the files which are infected and then see if you are able to visit the website. You will have to reinstall the browser again after scanning the computer. If you dont have an updated antivirus then use the free online scan facility provided by many websites.

I was also facing the same problem with Windows 7 which was installed on my laptop. It did not allow me to visit certain sites which was really frustrating. After searching for the solution online, I found out that there is an update which needs to be downloaded and installed after installation of the Windows 7 which helps in solving all the problems with the Network. Download the patch and install it on the computer. The patch is available on the official site of Microsoft for free.
