Links not opening on IE and Firefox, only on my user account, for some websites

I’ve recently been having trouble opening certain links, both on Internet Explorer and Firefox.

Everything was working fine 2 days ago, when I ran “Disk Cleanup”. However, I don’t think that’s the problem because I ran “Disk Cleanup” once, only for my user account files, and the second time, for all the files on the computer. And this trouble is only occurring my user account.

What happens is that I’ll go on, Youtube for instance and clicking on ANY link, whether it’s left-clicking on it, right-clicking on it or clicking the scroller to open the link in a new tab, it doesn’t happen. The page starts reloading again, and it doesn’t stop and stays blank.

I’ve surfed through the Internet looking for answers and nothing I’ve tried has helped.

    I’ve RUN:
    regsvr32 urlmon.dll
    (It says “succeeded)

    I tried running regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
    regsvr32 Msjava.dll
    regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
    regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
    regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
    regsvr32 Browseui.dll
(But they don’t work, presenting with various error messages)

But I don’t think that they’re the problem, just because of the fact that it’s only my user account which is facing this problems. And also because the vast majority of websites ARE giving me trouble, however, when I’ll try certain other websites, I get no problems.

I hope some-one can PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!!!

This generally happens when some other person has blocked those website for your account using C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts. First of all go to this folder and make sure there is nothing such things.. If it is there delete the lines with the blocked websites...

For more info just go through these posts, hope they will help you:

Reset the IE and Firefox settings

Reset the IE and Firefox settings:

    Reset IE settings:
    1. Run inetcpl.cpl command
    2. Advanced tab
    3. Reset Internet Explorer settings, click Reset. Then click Reset again.

    Reset Firefox settings:
    • Start->Run -> “firefox -safe-mode”
    • Select Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults and ok

    Thank-you very much for replying!!

I tried the suggestions, but unfortunately, nothing happened so I just deleted my user account and made another one.

    Thanks again.
