Download exceeds to a great extent

Hi, I have a Intel pentium 4 system with 3 ghz processor. It is been installed with Windows XP service pack 2. I have a broadband connection as well for accessing internet. I use Opera 10 as my web browser. The problem is that when I use internet my download limit exceeds a lot even if I do not use the internet much. Can you explain me the reason for this. Thank you.

Hello. Well this can be a issue of virus. A virus may be affecting your system due to which your downloads are getting automatically downloaded into your system. This virus may have got append to your browser which results automatic downloads. Scan your system with a good antivirus program. Use AvG 9.0 antivirus. Its a good virus removal software. Good luck.

Hi. Well this can be basically a problem due to the downloads getting downloaded unknowingly by your system. This happens due to the automatic updates getting downloaded. The automatic updates might have been turned on which results that when you turn on your internet it downloads the update from Microsoft's official site. You can turn off the process by following the steps as:

1) Go to start menu
2) Click on the control panel option
3) Select Automatic updates.
4) Click on the button Turn off automatic updates.
Save the settings. It will be done.

There is a possibility that you may be using your internet for not so long but you might accessing video content sites. When you play any videos online it gets uploaded to your system which results in download count to your download. This one of the reason that your downloads are getting exceeded. try not using or playing any video or media online. It may result that your downloads would not exceed its limit.
