Many user face this error in their gmail and it occurs when Potential causes include abuse of Google sites on your network, malicious software on your computer, or an issue with your browser. While searching around some fix for this error, fortunately i find one at google site. According to them, if the error page displays a squiggly word with a box (a CAPTCHA), just type the squiggly word into the box to continue using Gmail. A CAPTCHA helps us determine whether traffic is coming from automated robot software or from individual users. If the page doesn't display the CAPTCHA, or if you're continually receiving the CAPTCHA page, you may be able to resolve this problem by clearing your browser's cache and cookies.

Here is how to clear cache and cookies of all browsers.

Most probably this issue occurs when there is some problem with your internet browser. If clearing cookies doesn't solve the issue than i will suggest you to use some other browser. The best i can suggest for using Gmail is their own Firefox because i have never faced this kind of errors or issue with Firefox.

As the error message suggest that it may be the cause of some computer virus or spyware application, why don't you use some good antivirus and do a complete scan of your system ? I can suggest you two of them, first is Norton Internet Security 2009. The protection of browsers is improved, particularly with regard to Mozilla Firefox, which boasts a new module using technology Canary. Rowan Trollope has also said that Symantec will offer protection for Google Chrome browser if Google is gaining popularity.

Second one is Lavasoft Ad-Aware. It features real-time protection, a rootkit removal system, automatic updates, and much more to ensure that you have the power to protect yourself online. Get complete malware protection against virus, spyware, trojans, rootkits, blended malware, hijackers, keyloggers, and other potential cyber threats with Ad-Aware Plus Internet Security!
