    Problem changing password in Thunderbird

Hello I have some small problem with Thunderbird 2.0.0.19.

I would like to clarify that I have several e-mail account in, gmail 2, several other of my ISP ..

two days back i decided to change the password so i go to preferences and click on "Set password main" then change it, I type my passwords , I type the new and I get a pop up that says "unable to change passwords ", I try again several times and always the same, Thunderbird, I try again, same! I try to click on delete passwords principal, I uncheck "use a password main" and I restart thunderbird but It always ask my old password! !

Then I go to my profile folder and I rename the file cert8.db in cert8-old.db I then restarted Thunderbird and always the same, so I this time rename the file in key3.db key3-old.db nickel and it works most of passwords principal typing, so I retype all passwords of the pop and smtp taking care of the little check box "use the main password" and then I go to preferences to recreate my passwords principal short, I open the pop up nickel mark it "not defined" in the current passwords, I retype my new password twice and main valid in I OK but nothing is impossible not to close the box passwords, so I click cancel farm ....

In short a real boat, the thing is now I get an error message on my Gmail accounts, certificate problem I think, therefore I can retrieve them until someone helps me to recreate a new main passwords!!

    HELP please,

    Hello
Try creating a new profile in a new folder. You create an account to try. try this to see, in all cases if not succeed, there is problem with certificate!

Re: Problem changing password in Thunderbird

You copy the files abook / Storage.sdb / Mail folder and the full (Local Folders / ImapMail ..) + the file extension

    In the future two councils:

1-Make a copy of prefs.js file and turn off the profile.
(to be renewed when any significant changes (creating accounts / Creation books etc. ..)
2-Make a daily backup of the folder Thunderbird ..
