Java Console Launch Problems with CITRIX

I have to go with the Citrix TerminalServer to be connect with the SunMC Server. The reason for this is to the nature of the RMI proto. RMI requires to open the ports back on the console host. Actually, it is not allowed in our network construction, I primarily login to a CITIX T.S. ,open up the browser and then type the URL specified for SunMC server.

The page shows, I have choose "Launch Java Console", then "Open with Java Web Start executable" and it opens Java 5. Currently , I would require the Login Window but instead of this I receieved the message from window stating that :

    Checking for latest version ...

After a while (timeout) I get:

Unable to lauch Sun Management center

Do you have any ideas regarding this error message ?

I didn't ever worked with the Citrix TerminalServer previously but I think that the connection is timing out. Have you followed the manual installation of the java console from your desktop? (For instance . Not installing through the web interface). Does the web interface for Sun MC lets you to do the login and access data? There is another alternative would be to work with the Halcyon WebPortal, which allows you to make directory and agent icons in the topology:

Re: Java Console Launch Problems with CITRIX

I am able to perform the installation of Java Console on a regular machine, and then after can also log into the SunMC server. But then I got the issues , because opening Ports back on the console (that is in the common behavior of RMI) is not granted here. That is the causes why we have to work with a TerminalServer (Citrix).

According to me , I actually need to start a Java Web Start software and this Program (for example . cached on my Citrix) tries to perform the test on the Server (the SunMC server) for a latest version. And somehow it is unable to download this . I am running with the Java5 on the Citrix, don't have any idea it is appropriate .

Re: Java Console Launch Problems with CITRIX

Java Console requires to call up the "home" (sunconnection.sun.com) that does not perform if one has configured proxy for "direct connection to internet". Currently , I can login to the SunMC server and I received a window stating that

    "Login successful. Launching console."

A new Window opens and stating that "Please wait. Initializing standard services ..." And thats over. Nothing else, the GUI would not start properly . Any help would be appreciated ! Does someone suffering with the Java-Web-Start-SunMC-Java-Console started from a CITRIX Webserver ?

Re: Java Console Launch Problems with CITRIX

We have just got the news about the case at SUN and received the below suggested statement:

This is a known problem and actually the issue that you got has been escalated to our developer support: Bug 6665331 , The java web start is not working anymore on a firewalled connection . This is both on a windows as well as a solaris background . So somebody who has activated the firewall communication will be suffering with such type of problem . The momentarily environment you can apply are:

    - Perform the installation of console directly on the window computer or Soalris background and use the Java GUI or
    - Configure the variable "sunmc.server.console.firewall.Enable=false" into java.properties file.
