As compare to UltraEdit which has certain levels, but specializes in building PHP, PHPEdit has all the features that make a developer more efficient in his work: syntax highlighting, code without having to launch out of the software, database management, large possibility to modify the interface according to his tastes, auto completion, an internal debugger.

IntelliJ IDEA is as its name suggests a development tool very intelligent. Or at least he has long been more intelligent than others, with greater opportunities refactoring. But gradually progressing Netbeans and Eclipse by integrating functionally equivalent, which may gradually lose IntelliJ IDEA superiority of the universe outside Java EE. It is a open source tool.

According to me the best WYSIWYG editor is Dreamweawer. It is one that generates the code as clean in design mode, and auto-completion of tags and attributes in code view is nice. But obviously, the price impact. If you do not necessarily want a professional software, a free fully agree. For basic you can try Notepad++. It is a source code editor which supports several languages. It uses the same component as SciTE (Scintilla).

Kompozer is also known as Mozilla Composer. It is the first to have emerged, but the development of this software is now suspended and a number of flaws imputed by users. It is strongly recommended to prefer this new version of the editor, which for its part, remains in development, fixes bugs in Nvu and brings new features to the editor. Or else you can try PSPad
