List a few Open Source Encryption application

I have recently heard alot about threats to easily accessible data. I have also realized that there are a few encryption applications that help to secure data by hiding it from the rest. But I am unable to sort a few useful Encryption applications. Can any one recommend any secured open source encryption applications?

    GNU Privacy Guard

My suggestion would be that you can make use of the GNU Privacy Guard software. This is a open source software which can be used to secure sensitive data by encrypting and signing it. It is also known as GPG or GnuPG. GNU Privacy Guard is compliant with RFC 4880. This software is a command line applications. As it is a open source software you may modify it to suite it to your encryption requirements.

    Seahorse encrytion software

If you never used any encryption software ever, then it is recommended for you to go for Seahorse. This is relatively an easy to use encryption application that can be used to generating and keeping track of the PGP keys. It is GNOME application. This software will help to also sign your important files so that they can only be decrypted by you.

    TrueCrypt disk encryption software

I am using the TrueCrypt disk encryption application. This is a cross platform software which is open sourced to all its users. The best and most important use of this encryption application is that it provides for creating a virtual encrypted disk. Thus application is also been known as a Disk Encryption software that is useful for securing much needed data.

Cross-Crypt for encrypting and decrypting data

Yes there are quite a handful of open source softwares that are also rendered for data encryption and decryption purpose. I have also used a few and the best of the lot was the Cross-Crypt software. This software can be used by Windows users as well as Linux users. The encrypted data to be more secure and not easily visible can be stored the desired extension. This provides a very safe data hiding technique.
