Better amongst the absolute or relative path in HTML

I am trying to prepare an application which allows the user to deliver their content on web sites. Also a lotof images are involved in the design and the content delivery . I want to know which of the html clients like firefox and IE handles absolute paths or relative paths easily ? Or they handle it differently?

When you want to create hyperlinks in a web document, you have two options.
Either You can define an absolute path or relative path to the target object. If you are going with the absolute link path there is only a single way.But there are two options if you are using relative paths. The first is used more often and that is known as the a document relative path and the other one is called the root relative path

If would have to use I will orefer to use relative paths since they are more flexible. it would be beneficial to use relative path if you are going to be using the https to deliver the content with relative paths your page will neither work with http nor with the https. Where as the absolute path works with both the http and the https with warnings
