what is topologies?

Hi,
I am B.Sc.IT student. As per our syllabus we have computer network as a subject. Last week our sir has given us one case study on computer network. In that case study one question is there what is topologies? When I searched my book I found little information about it. So that's why I asked this question on this forum. If you know anything about this topic please help me.

Topologies are the type of structures in which computers are connected in various ways.
There are following type of topologies:

1. Mesh
2. Tree
3. Star
4. Hybrid
5. Bus

Computers are connected with each other in specific format, this format is called as topologies. These computers are connected via network cables. Topologies are basically layout of computer communication.Bus,Tree,Star,Mesh,Hybrid are different types of topologies.

There are 5 types of topology use in computer networking as follows:

1.Bus
2.Star
3.Ring
4.Hybrid
5.Mest

1.Bus topology:In this all computers are connected to central cable.

2.Ring topology : In this all computers are connected to each other

3.Star topology:In this all computers are connected to central hub

4.Tree topology: In this all computers are connected in star shape.
