    smile Java & .net

    Hi Friends, I am Souvik,

I like Programming & am in my 1st Semester of my MCA course.

My MCA course does not include much on JAVA or .NET. Can anyone tell me whether I should go for these courses from a separate institution to further my job prospects or should I just stick to my MCA couse syllabus ? My MCA course though has an Industrial training in the last semester where I have to do a short project in a company using one of the latest technologies in the market.

I don't have any knowledge about JAVA but I know C, C++, Visual Basic 6, SQL & Oracle 9i. So, which would be worth-while - JAVA or .NET ?

    Thanks.

I just signed into this by default trying to solve problem in update. A windows update comes up as Error Code80200010.

Okay The "helps" section said to use the Net so 'typed it in and somehow got all of you.

'Couple of you want to jump in here and tell me how to fix this??????????

Both are different platforms. The decision is depends on you, in which area you are interested ? First identify that. Then go for best one for you. Personally I have done both, I enjoy working work C# and C++ the most, I don't need to program any vending machines in the near future.

    Dear Sreekanth,

Thanks for your reply. Did you learn .NET from a separate institution ?

I like designing Windows Applications. So I guess you would suggest .NET to me.

Which one do you find more useful for your career now .NET or JAVA ?

    Thanks...

You should go for java. .Net has become a bit old now and java is booming, also java is platform independent...
