Cannot connect client to SBS server via VPN. Error 721.

I recently installed a new server with SBS 2003, one network adapter and there is no ISA. Also configured the same for remote VPN access. Now the problem am facing is I’m able to connect local computers can connect via VPN on the server's local IP address but if I try to connect on the external IP, it doesn't work. And if I use external IP, then it gives me Error 721.

Also the VPN console is able to find the server, it also starts establishing the connection but gets stuck wt a stage saying ‘verifying password’ and finally ends up saying Time Out.

    Need help?

Hello Gafoor, can you tell me which router you are using, make/model? Also you may find that you cannot do a loop. That is, you could only test a connection to the routers ip from an actual outside system.

Thats correct. That is the reason behind Error 721. Did you checked the Event log? is there anything mentioned regarding this error? GRE is *protocol* 47, not TCP port. Though allegedly some routers will forward GRE if you ask for TCP/47. Clearly yours isn't one of them.

Until you reply with your router’s make/model, I will suggest you to search and see if anyone knows how to pass PPTP
    through your model.

Thank you for your helps friend. Meanwhile I tried connecting via VPN from external network and finally it passed ‘Verifying password’ stage anyhow. But now it is getting to the "registering computer on the network" stage and then failing with a TCP/IP CP error 733. I'm going to fix this and enable DCHP on the SBS server again. So I wanted to know whether this is going to fix Error 733?
