Redirected Files are missing after formatting client machine.

I am a volunteer at a non-profit org.

I was told to format a windows 7 pro computer because it was having some issues.

This hasn't been a problem before with user files as they are saved on the server.

This time, all the users documents in My Documents are gone.

The folders are there but the files are gone.

This computer is on a sbs 2003 domain and has folder redirections turned on.

The server, doesn't allow me to open the users folder.

I looked at our backup, this too doesn't allow me access.

Any idea on WHY this ONE computer lost it's Redirected Folder Files after a format? I've done multiple at this site and never a problem since everything is saved on the server.

There are some points that are needed to be taken into consideration. First you must know that the redirection folders is design in the form of offline files. In that case it becomes easy to configure it when the system is down. You can even control the settings in offline mode. It is possible to configure it by going on Configuration>Administrative Templates>System>Folder Redirection> Do not automatically make redirected folders available offline. If you cannot see your files after redirection then first thing you must check that the user has shared the file and the folder is redirected on the base of NTFS permissions. Do not forget to check the gpo event log also.
